Ohr Yisroel believes in chinuch rather than control. “...train him to do mitzvos, so that when he grows old, he will not depart from them; but if you force him against his nature, he will obey you now since he fears you, but afterwards - once he is free of your control - he will depart from it…” (GR”A Mishlei 22:6)

Ohr Yisrael believes that there is intrinsic joy and satisfaction in the learning of Torah and performance of Mitzvos. The environment of the Yeshiva is designed to nurture that satisfaction and create every opportunity for the students to experience it.

Ohr Yisrael focuses on the development of personal responsibility and mature characteristics of our students. We seek to treat our students as the emerging young adults they are and thereby instill proper middos that will stay with them throughout their lives.
